Thing 2

I think the notion of Library 2.0 is very relavant. Even though our circulation rates are icreasing we need to stay competative and insure that the needs of patrons are being met. I think internet resources are extreemly valuable for the future but I dont see it completely replacing the hard copy book in the least bit. At least not when it comes to fiction. People want to sit down and read a good book, there is just no substitute on the web. So even though we need to stay competative I dont forsee Libraries as becoming some kind of cryptic storage facility, people will always want to read the old fashion way. When it comes to research, it is more conveniant to type in your subject and have everything at your fingertips. Who wants to carry around giant reference books sifting out the details. I think this is where the balance ocurrs. When you read for pleasure, you want to hold the book and relax, when you do research, you want everything right now, the internet is best.
